Oh dear heart, you don’t have to pretend you’re unaffected. You don’t have to numb it or explain it away. You’re allowed to feel. You’re allowed to sit in the tension between trusting Allah and still feeling the sting of what’s not going your way. Feeling things deeply doesn’t make you weak, it just means you’re human.
You can cry and still believe. You can feel sad and still be grateful. You can admit that something hurt and still know that Allah’s plan is better. It’s not one or the other. It’s both. And you are strong enough to hold both.
I think about Hajar again today. She wasn’t emotionless. She wasn’t walking back and forth between those hills with a blank heart. She was desperate. Scared. Tired. But still, she didn’t stop moving. That’s what trust looks like. Not a heart that never shakes, but one that keeps moving toward Allah in the shaking.
So if today you feel heavy, that’s okay. If your energy is low or you just want to cry, let it out. But don’t let it disconnect you. Bring those feelings into your du’a. Let them fuel your sincerity. You don’t have to come to Allah with polished words. Just come real.
And when you feel like you’re too much, remind yourself, Allah made you this way. He gave you a heart that notices, a heart that holds, a heart that remembers. That’s a gift. Don’t quiet it to survive.
Trust doesn’t mean you won’t feel. It means you’ll still choose Allah in the middle of what you feel.
So let yourself be soft today. Let yourself be real. But hold onto Him. He’s not uncomfortable with your emotions. He’s the One who gave you that heart in the first place.
You can feel and still trust. Both can live here.
Ya Allah, thank You for giving me a heart that feels.
Thank You for not expecting me to be numb or emotionless just to be strong.
Let my feelings lead me to You, not away from You.
Let my tears carry my du’a.
Let my honesty deepen my connection to You.
I don’t want to pretend, Ya Rabb. I just want to trust You even when I don’t fully understand.
Keep me close. Even when I’m fragile. Even when I feel too much.
