Everyone has their own unique scent. Think of how differently your mum and your husband smell when you lean in for a hug.

If you pick up your dirty clothes and take a deep whiff, they smell like you.

Your husband’s and children’s dirty clothes smell like them,

A baby smells like a baby,

A man smells like a man,

A woman smells like a woman, 

and a vagina smells just like a vagina, Vagina isn’t meant to smell like food.

The vagina is meant to smell like a vagina, which is unique to you alone.

A healthy vagina can smell like a lot of different things but flowers (perfume) isn’t one of them.

The difference in various vagina smell is likely due to your menstrual cycle, your hygiene habits, or just you being you.

A sweet vagina smell may mean your diet is high on sugar.  When we say sweet, we don’t mean sweet as in oranges and bananas.

A coppery smell may mean that you are close to having your menstruation.

An offensive odor that makes you scrunch up your nose, may either mean you are not clean down there or you need to visit a doctor as soon as possible.

A putrid vagina smell may not be your vagina but something in your vagina, something like a stuck condom or sperm not properly washed off after intercourse.

The way the vagina smells, has a lot to do about your lifestyle choices, which include what you eat, drink, your exercise routine etc.

It is important for you to know your body and know your own unique smell, this will enable you to know when there is a difference and if it is safe or you need to book an appointment with your gynecologist.
