This Is What Mercy Feels Like…

Oh dear heart, it’s Arafah.

And even if you’re not standing with other Muslims on the plain of Arafah, you’re still standing in front of your Lord. You’re still holding your hands up. You’re still pouring out things you’ve carried all year, the guilt, the hopes, the fears, the parts of you you’ve never fully known how to fix. And somehow, today it feels safe to say it all.

Because today is about mercy. And you can feel it.

There’s something different about the air on Arafah…a softness..a nearness…a kind of quiet that reminds you you’re not alone in this.

You’re not performing today. You’re not checking things off a list. You’re here because you know there’s no other place you’d rather be than right in front of the One who already knows everything about you, and still wants to forgive you.

Let it sink in.. Allah is proud of His servants on this day.. that He tells the angels, “What do they want from Me?” And the answer is simple …. we just want Him.

So dear heart… sk. Ask without editing yourself. Ask for things you think you don’t deserve. Ask for the big things, the quiet things, the things you’re too shy to admit you want. This is not the day to hold back.

And don’t worry if you’ve cried or not. Don’t worry if you can’t find the words. Mercy doesn’t need perfect du’a. It just needs presence.

Maybe you’re whispering in the kitchen while the kids run around. Maybe you’re staring at the ceiling while something tight sits in your chest. Maybe you’re sitting in stillness, just letting the tears do the talking. Maybe you are decorating the cake and making your efo riro…

However you show up, just know this, you are being seen. You are being heard. You are being forgiven.

This is what mercy feels like.

Let it hold you today.

Ya Allah, I am here. Not with fancy words, not with perfection, just with a heart that wants You.

Let Your mercy reach every part of me. The parts that are tired. The parts that still feel unworthy. The parts that ache to be closer to You.

Don’t let me leave this day the same. Wipe away what weighs on me.

Replace it with light. Let me feel Your nearness.

Let me believe fully that I am forgiven.
