There’s this idea many of us grew up with that worship only happens on the prayer mat. That if you’re not praying, fasting, or reading Qur’an, then maybe you’re not doing “enough.” But the more I live and learn more about the deen, the more I realise worship isn’t limited to those big, visible acts. Sometimes, it’s hidden in the quiet corners of our day, in the parts of our lives no one claps for but Allah sees so clearly.
Worship is in the unseen, everyday efforts. It’s in your marriage, in your work, in the way you care, show up, and hold things together.
That time you bit your tongue and chose silence over an argument with your husband…that moment you pushed yourself to finish cooking for your family, even though you were exhausted… days you clean up after everyone and no one says thank you, but you did it with patience…the effort you put into your job, trying to earn an honest income…the sleepless night you spent comforting your sick child, sacrificing your rest… moments you could’ve snapped at someone but instead chose kindness…
Every act becomes Ibadah when done for Allah’s sake.
Marriage itself is worship. The way you love your husband, the patience you practice, the way you serve your home, all of it is rewardable when your heart is in the right place. Even when he doesn’t notice. Even when he doesn’t say thank you. Even when, let’s be honest, he doesn’t deserve it. Because you’re not doing it for him. You’re doing it for Allah.
When you hold back from reacting, when you keep giving even on low days, when you greet him with warmth even when your own heart feels tired, it’s not just good character. It’s devotion.
And the work you do, whether at home or outside, when done with sincerity, it becomes an offering to Allah. Whether you’re raising kids, managing a business, pursuing your studies, or just trying to make it through the day, if your intention is for His sake, even your hardest efforts become a path back to Him.
And those moments when no one sees you, no one thanks you, no one even notices? Allah does.
That’s the beauty of this deen. Worship isn’t locked to prayer times. It flows through your patience, your love, your silence, your service, your strength.
So today, let’s shift how we see it. What if these things we call “responsibilities” are actually acts of worship pulling us closer to Jannah?
That meal you cooked? It’s not just food, it’s an offering.
That patience you held onto? It’s self-restraint for His sake.
That work you keep showing up for, even when it’s hard? It’s seen.
You don’t have to do more to worship Allah. You just have to mean it for Him.
And when you do, even the smallest act can take you closer to Jannah.
